 Some interesting information to wet your appetite.

  • Crest Harvest Polymer is being imported into South Africa as a water treatment product at present.
  • First developed 20 years ago to remove calcium deposits from boilers in the mining industry.  Still used today.
  • 15 years ago the Israelis started testing it in agriculture at 25 l/ha to remove sodium from sodic soils.
  • Crest Harvest Polymer is presently being registered as an agricultural product and once this process is completed, Crest Harvest (The name on the label at present) will be rebranded, and labeled.
  • Extensive trials are underway throughout SA at present by commercial and private farmers with very encouraging results so far.
  • Crest Harvest Polymer has been tested in SA for the last 8 years and we are getting very good results at an application rate of 4 l/ha, depending on the crop and the soils.
  • Crest Harvest Polymer is made by breaking down carbon chains into monomers and rebuilding them into polymer chains.
  • Crest Harvest Polymer is an organic non-toxic polymer.
  • Crest Harvest Polymer is PH neutral.
  • Crest Harvest Polymer has has a 3 to 4 month residual effect in the soil depending on weather conditions.  Being an organic compound it is also eaten by bacteria in the soil.
  • Crest Harvest Polymer works by weakening the bonds between negatively charged clay colloids and the positively charged cations such as Calcium, Magnesium, Ammonium, Potassium, Sodium, Iron, Manganese, Zinc and Copper.
  • Normally plants have to use energy to produce a root exudate which weakens the bonds between the cations and clay colloids therefore allowing the plant to take up the required elements.
  • By applying the Crest Harvest Polymer the plant no longer has to do this extra work as the elements/plant nutrients are now freely available to the plant, thanks to the Crest Harvest Polymer.
  • The plants can now take up and use more elements/plant nutrients than previously.
  • Less energy used by the plants and more freely available elements/plant nutrients equals greater biomass, stronger root systems, increased plant growth and healthier plants culminating in greater production, higher yields and bottomline, more money in your pocket.
  • The increased plant growth does not only happen above the soil level but also below building a stronger root systems which in turn improves soil structure and microbial activity in the soil, all positive.
  • Crest Harvest Polymer increases the water infiltration rate into the soil therefore less runoff.
  • Crest Harvest Polymer is compatible with all herbicides therefore no extra application costs and it cleans your spray application equipment at the same time.
  • Crest Harvest Polymer is in the process of being registered as an agricultural product and extensive trials have been and are being done on Sugar, Macs, Maize, Citrus, Wheat, Avos, Vegetables, Pasture, Grapes and many more.
  • Our best results from our trials have been combined with good, solid, sensible farming practices.  
  • Crest Harvest Polymer is not a one stop miracle fix but it is giving very encouraging results if used correctly.

Application Rates

  • Application rates higher than the rates recommended by us, should not be used.
  • Sugarcane - 4 litres per hectare after harvesting.
  • Macadamia Nuts - 4 liters per hectare every 3 months (4 time a year)
  • Instant Lawns - 4 litres per hectare every 3 months (4 times a year)

Questions from Farmers & Answers

  1. What is the recommended application rate for short term crops such as Sugarcane, Maize, Wheat, Vegetables, Pasture, etc. ?
    4 litres per hectare after harvesting sugarcane or after planting other crops, once per year.
  2. What is the recommended application rate for trees such as Macs, Avos, Forestry, etc. ?
    4 litres per hectare 4 times per year (Every three months)
  3. How is the Crest Harvest Polymer delivered to my farm?
    It is a liquid and is delivered in 21 litre plastic drums.
  4. What is the cost of a 21 litre drum?
    R 3,150.00 plus VAT.  or R 150.00 per litre plus VAT.
  5. Can I mix Crest Harvest Polymer with my other herbicides to reduce applications costs?
    YES you may.  Crest Harvest is compatible with all herbicides.
  6. Does Crest Harvest Polymer cause soil mining?
    So far through our extensive trials using soil sampling as one of our tools we have had no indication of soil mining.
  7. Does Crest Harvest Polymer have a residual effect in the soil?
    Yes it has a 3 to 4 month residual effect as it is eaten by soil bacteria.
  8. Why have I not heard of Crest Harvest Polymer before?
    Crest Harvest Polymer, although it has been tested in agriculture over the last 8 years in SA, is a very new and exciting agricultural product which is still in the process of being registered in SA.  Once this registration process has been completed it will be rebranded and labeled.
  9. Are there any farmers in SA who are using Crest Harvest Polymer every year on their whole farm?
    Yes, yes and yes! :-)

Some Interesting Figures I have managed to collect so far.

Peppadews  from 20 tons/ha increased to 30 tons/ha using Polymer.

Macs from 3.5 tons/ha increased to 9.4 tons/ha on some orchards.

Germination rate is quicker, Germination percentage is higher and Growth after germinations is faster and stronger.
